The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) has reported a notable increase in bounced checks for July 2024, according to preliminary data from the Central Information Register (CIR).
In July, a total of 36 bounced checks, amounting to pound 60,416, were recorded, a significant rise from the 12 checks worth pound 13,048 issued in June. According to the data, 15 entities-11 legal and 4 natural persons-were listed in the preliminary CIR register for July.
From January to July 2024, the CIR recorded 170 bounced checks valued at pound 363,363, compared to 209 checks worth pound 615,811 during the same period last year. The bounced checks during the first seven months of 2024 involved 85 entities, comprising 58 legal and 27 natural persons.
Additionally, the number of individuals listed in the CIR for July 2024 reached 24. This included 9 legal entities, 4 natural persons, and 11 natural persons who control legal entities. Over the seven-month period, a total of 132 entities were registered in the CIR, compared to 179 ent
ities during the same period in 2023.
