Bilateral Ties and Cyprus EU Presidency the Focus of President’s Working Visit to Croatia

Zagreb: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is paying a working visit to Croatia in view of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU by the Republic of Cyprus in the first half of next year.

According to Cyprus News Agency, a press release by the Presidency states that on Tuesday morning, the President of the Republic will have a meeting at the Presidential Palace with his Croatian counterpart, Zoran Milanovic. Later, he will sign the Guest Book at the Croatian Prime Minister’s Office and hold a tete-a-tete meeting with Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. This will be followed by extensive talks between the delegations of the two countries and statements to the press.

The President of the Republic, accompanied by the Prime Minister of Croatia, will lay a wreath at the Homeland Monument. This will be followed by a luncheon hosted in his honor by the Prime Minister of Croatia. The main issues of discussion during the President’s meetings will be bilateral relations and the priorities for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU that will begin on the first of January 2026.

The President, who is accompanied by Director of the Press Office of the President, Victoras Papadopoulos, and Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President, Nektarios Soteriou, will then travel to Brussels where he will participate in the European Council.
