Dengue continues to wreak havoc in Bangladesh with 11 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the country’s health authority said. Hospitalizations on Sunday reached 2,905, the highest single-day record, according to the Directorate General of Health Services. With the latest figures, the nationwide death toll due to dengue reached 398, while hospitalizations stood at 85,411. A majority of those who were hospitalized made a full recovery. Last year, 281 people died due to dengue. Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. There is no specific treatment for dengue. However, timely detection can save lives.
