Average Monthly Earnings for Employees Rise by 4.9% in 2025

Nicosia: The average gross monthly earnings of employees for the year 2025 are estimated at £2,605, compared to £2,483 in 2024, marking a 4.9% increase over the previous year, according to data released on Monday by the Cyprus Statistical Service.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the increase for 2024 was 5.1%, with the median gross monthly earnings of employees recorded at £1,968. A press release on the CyStat website indicates that the average gross monthly earnings of employees in the fourth quarter of 2025 are estimated at £2,932, compared to £2,810 in the fourth quarter of 2024, reflecting a 4.4% rise.

For the fourth quarter of 2025, there was a 1.1% increase in seasonally adjusted average gross earnings compared to the third quarter of the same year. The average gross monthly earnings for male employees in the fourth quarter of 2025 are estimated at £3,102 and for female employees at £2,718, with an increase of 4.2% and 4.5% respectively compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.

The Statistical Service's report highlights that, based on preliminary data for 2025, the largest proportion of Cypriot employees is found in the £1,500 to £2,999 earnings group (42.8%), whereas for non-Cypriot employees, the highest percentage is in the under £1,500 group (47.7%).

Differences are also noted in the distribution of employees by gender. Women show a higher concentration in the income group below £1,500 (38.8%), while men have the highest percentage in the £1,500 to £2,999 group (40.5%).

In 2025, non-Cypriot employees are largely concentrated in the lower levels of gross monthly earnings, particularly below £1,500, whereas Cypriots are more concentrated in the middle and higher categories. Non-Cypriots account for a larger percentage in the highest category, equal to or above £6,000, the press release concludes.
