Nicosia: The average interest rate on household deposits in Cyprus fell to 1.27% in July 2026, while the interest rate on housing loans rose to 3.24%, with both rates below their respective euro area rates, according to data published on Monday by the Central Bank of Cyprus for each credit institution for July.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the data reveals the average interest rate on deposits from households decreased to 1.27% in July 2026, down from 1.42% in June, whereas the corresponding euro area rate stood at 2.10%. Specifically, the highest interest rate on household deposits with an agreed maturity of up to one year for euro area residents was offered in July by National Bank of Greece at 1.62%, slightly down from 1.64% the previous month. It was followed by Alpha Bank at 1.45%, up from 1.39% in June, and Eurobank and Societe Generale at 1.32% each, compared with 1.51% and 1.12%, respectively.

The highest corresponding deposit rate for businesses in July was offered by Ancoria Bank at 1.94%, increasing from 1.60% in June, followed by Alpha Bank at 1.66%, a decrease from 2.05% the previous month.

Regarding the average interest rate on housing loans, irrespective of the initial rate fixation period (new contracts), it rose to 3.24% from 3.18%, while the average euro area rate stood at 3.54%. The highest lending rate for households in July 2026 was offered by Societe Generale at 3.55% (no data were available for June), followed by Bank of Cyprus at 3.37%, up from 3.28% the previous month, and the Housing Finance Corporation (HFC) at 3.31%, down from 3.36%.

Meanwhile, the average interest rate on loans to businesses up to £1 million, irrespective of the initial rate fixation period (new contracts), stood at 4.51% in July, up from 4.16% in June. The highest interest rate was offered by Banque SBA at 6.99%, followed by Societe Generale at 4.99% and Ancoria Bank at 4.79%.
