The Summit of the Southern Member States of the European Union (EUMED 9) will be held in Athens on Friday, September 17, with the participation of Greece, Cyprus, France, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Malta, Croatia, and, for the first time, Croatia and Slovenia.
The Summit will take place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre and the agenda of the discussions will include issues related to the region of the Eastern Mediterranean, the climate crisis, civil protection and developments in Afghanistan.
At 15:30 local time on Friday afternoon, a session on climate change and its impact on the Mediterranean will be held with the participation of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
