Major Asian stock markets closed Tuesday with gains except for the Singapore benchmark index.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 0.41% to 3,412 points as of 1130GMT.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 increased 0.30% to close at a 33-year high of 31,328 points.?
Japan’s unemployment rate fell more than market forecast to 2.6% in April from 2.8% in March, according to government data released on Tuesday.
The number of jobless people dropped by 150,000 to 1.8 million, while employment increased by 130,000 to 67.4 million.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong exchange, ended its four-session losing streak and rose 0.24% to reach 18,595 points.
China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange edged up 0.09% to 3,224 points.
India’s Sensex index gained 0.20% to close at 62,969 and the Singapore index was down by 0.24% to end the day at 3,187 points.
