Arrangements for admission of children from Ukraine to public schools are made, Ministry of Education says

General

The necessary arrangements have been made for the admission of all children from Ukraine to public schools, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth said in a statement.

It is noted that the Republic of Cyprus, like the other EU Member States, provides protection to Ukrainian citizens, who arrive in its territory for a period of one year. Therefore, the Ukrainian refugees arriving in Cyprus have all the rights deriving from this decision, such as access to medical care, education, housing support and so on.

As part of this policy, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth states that it has made plans to admit Ukrainian students to public schools at all levels.

Children coming from Ukraine can enroll in public schools depending on their age and there they will receive the appropriate reception and support, the statement notes.

In addition, the Ministry says that it has spoken with the Embassy of Ukraine in Cyprus and, taking into account the possible desire of a number of students to continue to attend the educational program of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, it will provide special facilities, in addition to regular attendance at public schools, for pupils who wish to continue attending the Ukrainian educational programme.

Those interested can receive information by calling the Call Center for Ukrainian Refugees, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily, in 1477 for Cypriot numbers and +357 22 285777 for foreign numbers, the statement concludes.
