Annual Producer Prices in Industry See Marginal Increase of 0.2%

Nicosia: Producer prices in the industry experienced a slight year-on-year increase of 0.2% in January 2026, despite a monthly decline of 0.6%, as per the data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on Friday. The Producer Price Index (PPI) in Industry reached 122.1 points for January 2026, with 2021 as the base year set at 100.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the index recorded a 0.6% decrease in comparison to December 2025. Despite this monthly drop, there was a modest annual rise of 0.2% compared to January 2025. On a monthly basis, notable increases were observed in sectors such as water supply and materials recovery at 1.9%, mining and quarrying at 0.4%, and manufacturing at 0.2%. However, a significant monthly decrease of 4.4% was noted in electricity supply.

Annually, the index showed increases in mining and quarrying by 7.9%, water supply and materials recovery by 0.9%, and manufacturing by 0.6%. Conversely, electricity supply saw a decrease of 2.1% over the same period. Within the manufacturing sector, from January 2025 to January 2026, there were increases in the manufacture of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment by 5.0%, and in furniture, other manufacturing, and repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 4.3%. The manufacture of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, and other transport equipment rose by 1.6%, while the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products increased by 0.8%. The manufacture of refined petroleum products, chemicals, chemical products, and pharmaceutical products and preparations saw a rise of 0.6%.

However, there were declines in the manufacture of food products, beverages, and tobacco products, as well as in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, both decreasing by 0.3%.
