Nicosia: The Presidency of the Republic has hailed the government’s accomplishment of creating conditions for full employment within the first two years of its governance as “a significant labour achievement” with a robust positive impact on both the economy and society.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Presidency highlighted in a post on “X” that the unemployment rate was reduced to 4.9% in 2024, the lowest figure since 2008, while employment rose to 79.8%, marking the highest rate recorded. The Presidency emphasized that achieving these goals is a considerable labour triumph with substantial benefits for the nation’s economic and social landscape.
The post further outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the relationship between human resources and the labour market. This includes promoting vocational training and utilizing employment enhancement programs to further improve labour market conditions and sustain the positive outcomes achieved so far.
