Nicosia: Cypriots from around the globe are set to gather in Nicosia for the World Conference of Cyprus Diaspora from August 26 to 29. The event, organized by the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK), International Coordinating Committee ‘Justice for Cyprus’ (PSEKA), and World Organisation for Young Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK), will host a variety of discussions and activities.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the conference will take place at the University of Cyprus, with the opening ceremony scheduled at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. President Nikos Christodoulides will address the gathering and declare the conference open. The event is expected to attract overseas Cypriots from various sectors and will be televised live on CyBC.
The event will feature musical performances and addresses from key figures, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Konstantinos Kombos, POMAK President Andreas Papaevripides, PSEKA President Philip Christopher, and NEPOMAK President Christos Touton. Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis-Michael Loverdos, President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou, and Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Georgios will also deliver speeches.
The conference proceedings will run from August 27 to 29 at the university. Delegates will participate in elections for POMAK and PSEKA committees. The sessions will be exclusive to registered delegates, with a reception hosted by the President and recognition of notable diaspora members.
On August 28, delegates will honor the late benefactor Nikos Mouyiaris in Athienou. The conference will wrap up with a concert titled ‘Nothing is Over Yet’ at Skali Aglantzia on August 29, marking the 51 years since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
The conference will conclude with a press conference in the morning.
