Brussels: A workshop on the implementation of European Programs of Common Interest for Defence was held this week in Brussels, spearheaded by the Cyprus Presidency of the Defence Industry Working Group. The event, organized in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space of the European Commission, focused on addressing Europe's increasingly complex security environment.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Director of Armaments and Defence Capabilities Development of the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Panagiotis Hatzipavlis, highlighted the urgent need for enhanced cooperation in developing defence capabilities. He emphasized that this cooperation is not only a strategic necessity but also a shared responsibility among European nations.
The workshop provided a platform for presenting the implementation program of the European Programs of Common Interest for Defence. Member states were given the opportunity to showcase their programs of common interest, fostering collaboration and strategic alignment.
The Ministry of Defence noted that this workshop is part of the Cyprus EU Presidency's efforts to strengthen cooperation among EU Member States and involved bodies. The focus is on promoting the collective development of European Defence Capabilities and enhancing European autonomy in defence matters.
