The WIP (Work in Progress) Arts and Technology Festival returns for its fourth edition from the 18th to 27th of October, 2024, turning the old city of Nicosia into a dynamic space of creativity, technology, and innovation.
A press release by the Cyens Center of Excellence says that following the success of previous years, WIP24 promises a unique experience where art, technology, and innovation come together to explore the challenges and opportunities of our present and future.
This year’s theme, de-cloud, reflects the tension between two perspectives: the Symbiocene, which imagines a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, and Hyperreality, a concept from Jean Baudrillard that questions the blurred lines between reality and simulation, it notes.
Through this theme, it adds, the festival investigates the complexities of our techno-driven present while seeking to clear the beclouded visions of our potential futures.
Hosted at the newly renovated Old Municipal Market, which now houses the CYENS
Centre of Excellence, WIP24 makes use of this unique venue to bring together artists from around the world who utilize new technologies to challenge the boundaries of reality.
