Weather Forecast Predicts Foggy Conditions for Cyprus Coastal Areas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released a forecast for the sea area around Cyprus, predicting mainly fine weather with some notable exceptions. The forecast, which covers an 8-kilometer seawards area, indicates that during the night and morning hours, increased low cloud coverage may lead to mist and fog patches, especially over the southern and eastern coastal regions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was 1008 hPa, influenced by seasonal low pressure. While visibility is generally good, it is expected to drop to moderate or poor during misty conditions and become very poor in areas affected by fog. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 29°C, with no severe weather warnings issued at this time.

The forecast details varying wind conditions across different coastal areas. On the west coast, winds are expected to be southwest to northwest at Beaufort scale 3 to 4 in the afternoon, with a smooth to slight sea state. During the night, winds will shift to northwest to northeast offshore, maintaining similar sea conditions. The morning will see winds from south to southwest, gradually changing to southwest to west.

For the south coast, southwest to west winds at scale 4 to 5 are anticipated in the afternoon, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. At night, winds will transition to northwest to north, and by morning, a south to southwest direction is expected.

The east coast will experience afternoon winds from south to southwest, shifting to northwest during the night, with a return to variable winds by morning. The north coast is forecasted to have southwest to northwest winds in the afternoon, changing to southeast to southwest at night, and gradually increasing again by morning.

Overall, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology advises caution for those traveling or operating in the affected sea areas due to potential visibility issues during night and morning hours.
