Nicosia: A new yellow warning for high temperatures is anticipated for Thursday, August 13, as per the latest forecasts by the Department of Meteorology. Cooler conditions and the possibility of rainfall are expected from Friday, according to Meteorological Officer Panayiotis Lingis, speaking to CNA.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Lingis reported that temperatures on Thursday are expected to reach nearly 40 degrees Celsius. This increase in temperature makes it likely that a yellow warning for extremely high temperatures will be issued.
Lingis explained that starting Friday, a change in the weather pattern is expected, with increased instability. This will lead to isolated rainfall developing over the mountains before gradually moving inland. Over the weekend, these conditions are anticipated to intensify slightly, with temperatures dropping to around 38 degrees Celsius.
Lingis noted that any rain and thunderstorms will be limited in both intensity and extent. Temperature levels are expected to remain close to the seasonal average during this period.
Regarding humidity, Lingis mentioned that recent days have seen somewhat elevated levels. However, these have not reached a point where they would pose significant problems.
