Nicosia: Two individuals, aged 34 and 26, were arrested on Thursday as part of inquiries by the Cyprus Police Drug Law Enforcement Unit, following the discovery of drugs, which exceed 200 kilograms as authorities estimate. Firearms, bullets, and explosives were discovered alongside the drugs, at a residence in Strovolos, YKAN Commander Christos Andreou told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
According to Cyprus News Agency, Andreou stated that by 16:30 (local time), 150 kilos of cannabis and 50 kilos of cocaine had been counted, with the count still ongoing. He later informed CNA that authorities would continue their work in the presence of those arrested and were not expected to finish counting before midnight.
Andreou further disclosed that 11,640 firecrackers, 3 pistols - two of which appear to be real, two improvised explosive devices, were also discovered, in addition to 30 firearm bullets and around 13,500 euros. The drugs, explosives, and pistols were found in external storage areas of a residence in Strovolos, he explained.
