Weak Low Pressure Influences Cyprus Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, highlighting the influence of weak low-pressure conditions over the region. The forecast, valid from 1800 on December 29, 2025, until 1800 on December 30, 2025, predicts mainly fine weather transitioning to partly cloudy conditions by the following afternoon. Visibility is expected to remain good, with sea surface temperatures recorded at 20°C. No warnings have been issued for this period.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards from the coast. On the west coast, winds are expected to shift from northwest to north at a Beaufort scale of 4 during the night, with sea conditions ranging from moderate to slight. By morning, variable winds transitioning to south to southwest are expected, with slight to moderate sea states. In the afternoon, southwest winds are anticipated, leading to slight sea conditions.

For the south coast, nighttime winds will range from northwest to northeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually decreasing near the coast. The sea state will be slight, becoming smooth to slight near the coast. Morning winds will vary from southwest to northwest, maintaining slight sea conditions. By afternoon, winds are forecasted to shift southwest to west, with local variations to south to southwest, resulting in smooth to slight seas.

The east coast will experience northwest to northeast winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort during the night, transitioning to west to northwest at 3. Sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate, later becoming slight. Morning winds will vary from southwest to northwest, with sea conditions smoothing out. In the afternoon, southwest winds will lead to smooth to slight seas.

The north coast will see northwest to north winds at 4 Beaufort during the night, gradually shifting to southwest to northwest at 3 to 4. Sea states will be moderate, becoming slight to moderate. Morning conditions will feature southwest to west winds, with sea states transitioning from slight to moderate to slight. In the afternoon, southwest to west winds will persist, with local variations near the coast, resulting in slight to smooth sea conditions.
