Weak Low Pressure Expected to Bring Isolated Showers and Thunderstorms to Cyprus Sea Area

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, predicting weak low pressure conditions that could lead to increased cloud coverage, isolated showers, and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast covers a period from 0600 on February 22, 2026, to 0600 on February 23, 2026, and applies to an area extending 8 kilometers seawards. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1013 hPa. While visibility is expected to remain good, it may reduce to moderate in areas experiencing showers. The sea surface temperature in the forecasted area is 18°C. No warnings have been issued for the period, as the conditions do not warrant any immediate concerns. The winds in the area are measured using the Beaufort scale, and all times mentioned in the forecast are in local time.
