Weak Low Pressure Brings Dust and Showers to Cyprus Sea Area

Nicosia: Weak low pressure is currently affecting the sea area of Cyprus, resulting in atmospheric changes and weather fluctuations across the region. The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has reported the presence of dust in suspension, with concentrations increasing at times, alongside the likelihood of local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected to persist until sunset.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure recorded at the time of the forecast issuance was 1010hPa. The visibility in the area is generally good, though it may reduce to moderate levels at times due to the dust. Despite these conditions, no warnings have been issued for the area.

The sea surface temperature around Cyprus remains at 18°C. Forecasts for the various coastal regions indicate varying wind patterns and sea conditions throughout the day and night. On the west coast, morning winds are expected to be south to southwest at force 4 to 5, with local variations, leading to moderate sea conditions. By night, winds will shift gradually near the coast, resulting in slight to moderate sea states.

Similarly, the south coast will experience southwest winds in the morning, with slight to moderate seas. As the day progresses, the winds will decrease slightly, and the sea state will gradually become smoother. The east coast will also see southwest winds with slight to moderate conditions offshore, calming by night. The north coast will follow a similar pattern, with moderate conditions in the morning transitioning to slight seas by night.

The forecast reflects a dynamic weather situation across the coastal areas of Cyprus, emphasizing the need for marine activities to be conducted with caution due to the varying sea conditions and the presence of dust and potential thunderstorms.
