The united states: The United States is reassessing the Visa Waiver programme, and no new countries have been added to the programme, sources familiar with the prospects of Cyprus joining the scheme told CNA.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the United States has confirmed the progress Cyprus has made in meeting the technical requirements for joining the Visa Waiver Programme. However, the US administration is currently reassessing the programme, and no new countries have been admitted to it, it was noted.
It is recalled that, during the visit to Cyprus in July by Rob Law, Under Secretary for Strategy, Policy and Plans at the US Department of Homeland Security, it was reaffirmed that Cyprus had completed the required technical criteria.
An announcement following the Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki's meeting with Law, last July, said that further consideration of the matter would take place in accordance with the United States' internal procedures.
