Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has announced that seasonal low pressure combined with an unstable air mass is currently affecting the sea area surrounding Cyprus. This meteorological pattern is expected to result in mainly fine weather across the coastal regions, although there will be periods of increased cloud coverage. The eastern parts of the island may experience isolated showers or thunderstorms this evening, and there is a risk of local mist and increased low cloud coverage, particularly over the southeastern coastal areas. Visibility in these areas may vary from good to moderate or poor in misty conditions.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the weather forecast issuance was recorded at 1005 hPa (hectopascal). The sea surface temperature remains relatively warm at 29°C. Despite the unstable conditions, there are currently no warnings issued for the area.
For the West Coast, afternoon winds will vary from southwest to northwest at forces 3 to 4, with some local variations reaching forces 4 to 5. These conditions are expected to create a slight state of the sea. At night, winds will shift from northwest to north at forces 3 to 4, and later near the coast from northwest to northeast at force 3, maintaining a slight sea state. By morning, the winds will change to southwest to west at force 3, gradually increasing to forces 3 to 4, with the sea remaining slight.
On the South Coast, afternoon winds are anticipated to blow from southwest to west at forces 4 to 5, with some local areas reaching force 5, resulting in a slight sea state. During the night, winds will transition to southwest to west at forces 3 to 4, and later near the coast to northwest to northeast at force 3, causing the sea to be slight, but near the coast, it may become smooth to slight. By morning, the winds will shift to southeast to southwest at force 3, soon changing to south to southwest at force 4, leading to a smooth to slight sea state, soon becoming slight.
The East Coast will experience south to southwest winds at forces 4 to 5, locally reaching force 5, in the afternoon, with a slight sea state. At night, the winds will decrease to southwest to northwest at force 3, resulting in a smooth to slight sea state. By morning, winds will be southeast to southwest at force 3, soon transitioning to south to southwest at force 4, creating a smooth to slight sea state.
