University of Nicosia Academics Recognized in Global Scientific Rankings

Nicosia:Twenty-five academics from the University of Nicosia have achieved recognition in the latest Stanford University compilation of the world's most influential scientists, released on October 7, 2026. This list highlights top-cited researchers, with twenty-two academics appearing in the 2025 single-year ranking and fifteen in the career-long ranking. Notably, twelve individuals achieved recognition in both categories.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the ranking, known as 'Updated science-wide author databases of standardised citation indicators,' is a collaboration between Elsevier and Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University. It evaluates scientific impact across a wide range of research areas using advanced metrics such as citations and composite indicators. The analysis spans 20 major scientific fields and 174 specialized subfields, assessing both lifetime and recent scholarly contributions.

The University of Nicosia's representation on this list demonstrates its expanding influence in international research. The number of academics in the single-year ranking increased from twenty to twenty-two, showcasing the University's growing presence in the global scientific community. This accomplishment aligns with the University's recent placement among the world's Top 501-550 universities in the 2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
