Nicosia: The University of Cyprus (UCY) has achieved notable placements in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 by Subject, demonstrating its academic and research prowess across ten different subject areas. This achievement enhances the University's international visibility and confirms its role as a leading educational institution.
According to Cyprus News Agency, THE's subject rankings evaluate universities through 18 performance indicators, organized into five pillars that address key institutional strengths, such as the teaching environment, research volume and reputation, citation impact, international outlook, and industry and societal engagement. UCY's presence in ten subject rankings highlights its growing contribution to global scholarship.
The University recorded its strongest performance in four subject areas, ranking within the 301-400 band for Arts and Humanities, Education Studies, Medical and Health, and Psychology. Other subject rankings include Business and Economics (601-800), Computer Science (401-500), Engineering (501-600), Physical Sciences (601-800), and Social Sciences (401-500).
Professor Tasos Christofides, Rector of the University of Cyprus, expressed that being ranked by Times Higher Education in multiple disciplines underscores the quality and impact of UCY's work.
