Nicosia: A visit by a delegation from the United States Naval Academy of the United States of America took place at the University of Cyprus on Monday, as part of an educational mission and with the aim of developing cooperation with the University of Cyprus and in particular with the School of Economics and Management.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the University of Cyprus stated in a press release that the delegation from the United States Naval Academy consisted of Associate Professor Nikolaos Siougiannis, Professor Alexander McQuoid, and seven student cadets.
The meeting was attended by notable figures from the University of Cyprus, including the Rector, Professor Tasos Christofides, the Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Professor George Hadjinicolas, the Chairman of the Department of Economics, Professor Andros Kourtellos, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Stylianos Papageorgiou, and staff from the International Relations Service.
During the meeting, Professor George Hadjinicolas provided a presentation on the School of Economics and Management, while Associate Professor Nikolaos Siougiannis gave a presentation on the United States Naval Academy. The discussion afterward highlighted the potential for collaboration between the two institutions.
Rector Tasos Christofides emphasized that the visit signifies the beginning of cooperation between the University of Cyprus and the United States Naval Academy, which share common values focused on academic excellence and societal contribution. This partnership will be formalized through the signing of a general memorandum of cooperation, which includes provisions for student exchanges.
The delegation also toured the University Campus and visited the Information Centre – ‘Stelios Ioannou’ Library.
