Nicosia:The number of unemployed individuals registered at the District Labour Offices in Cyprus increased by 9.7% in October 2026 compared to the same month the previous year. The total number of unemployed persons reached 7,790, marking an increase of 691 individuals from October 2025, as per the latest data released by the Statistical Service.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the rise in unemployment is primarily linked to the information and communication sector, administrative and support service activities, and professional, scientific, and technical activities.

However, seasonally adjusted data, which provide a clearer picture of unemployment trends, show a slight decrease in the number of registered unemployed persons. The figures fell to 10,711 in October 2026, down from 10,741 in September 2026.
