UK Parliamentary Group to Visit Cyprus for Diplomatic Meetings

Nicosia: A delegation from the All-party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Cyprus in the UK Parliament is scheduled to visit Cyprus from the 26th to the 29th of May. This visit is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen bilateral relations and engage in discussions with key Cypriot officials.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the delegation will be received on the 27th of May by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Presidential Palace. Following this, they will visit the House of Representatives to meet with Chairman Harris Georgiades and Members of the House Standing Committee on Foreign and European Affairs.

The following day, the delegation is set to meet with the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou. In the afternoon, they will travel to Dherynia to hold discussions with Dr. Simos Ioannou, the Mayor of Famagusta, and Members of the Municipal Council of Famagusta.

The itinerary also includes a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Constantinos Kombos, on the 29th of May. Additionally, the delegation plans to visit the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and the Stelios Foundation Cyprus Headquarters in Nicosia.

The delegation comprises several UK MPs, including Bambos Charalambous (Labour – Chair APPG for Cyprus – Delegation Leader), Dan Tomlinson (Labour – Vice President APPG for Cyprus), Sir Roger Gale (Conservative – Honorary President APPG for Cyprus), Wendy Morton (Conservative), Bob Blackman (Conservative), Martin Vickers (Conservative), as well as Christos Karaolis, President of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK.
