ANKARA: The Turkish benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 9,966.57 points, falling 0.16% or 15.71 points from the previous close. On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.72% to 9,982.28 points with a daily transaction volume of 94 billion Turkish liras ($2.78 billion). The US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) exchange rate was 33.8770 as of 10.00 a.m. (0700GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.7112, and the GBP/TRY rate was 44.1594.
