LARNAKA: The Government supports the authenticity, superior quality and uniqueness of the Cypriot agricultural products, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, Maria Panayiotou has said. In her address at the 2nd CyFood B2B Forum, that took place in Larnaka, the Minister stressed that Cypriot, traditional quality products are a “national wealth” of our country.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cypriot traditional quality products, especially those whose names are already registered in the European Register of Geographical Indications, “are the national wealth of our country” she pointed out.
“The Government and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment support the authenticity, superior quality and uniqueness of Cyprus agricultural products through the protection offered by the Geographical Indications and the corresponding quality systems,” she said.
These products, she added, are the most important ambassadors of Cypriot gastronomy for domestic cateri
ng and hospitality services, but also for exports.
Concluding, she said that the state facilitates the coexistence of tradition with innovation and culinary excellence with technology.
