Nicosia: Tourist arrivals in Cyprus decreased by 1.1% in July 2026, totalling 582,754 compared with 589,116 in July 2025.
According to Cyprus News Agency, for the period from January to July 2026, tourist arrivals totalled 2,238,769, compared with 2,432,129 in the corresponding period of 2025, marking a decrease of 8%.
It is noted that arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism in July 2026, accounting for 31.9% (185,981) of total arrivals, while arrivals from Israel accounted for 20.5% (119,293). Arrivals from Poland accounted for 6.3% (36,912), Germany 3.7% (21,338), and Sweden 3.4% (19,899).
The purpose of travel in July 2026 was holidays for 85.2% of tourists, visiting friends or relatives for 11.7%, and business for 3.0%. Similarly, in July 2025, 85.5% travelled to Cyprus for holidays, 11.6% to visit friends or relatives, and 2.8% for business purposes.
The Service adds that trips abroad by Cypriot residents in July 2026 totalled 210,047, compared with 186,987 in July 2025, marking an increase of 12.3%.
The main countries Cypriot residents returned from in July 2026 were Greece with 38.5% (80,775), the United Kingdom with 7.1% (14,832), Italy at 6.0% (12,545), Poland at 3.5% (7,412), and Germany at 3.5% (7,330).
The main purpose of travel for Cypriot residents in July 2026 was holidays, accounting for 75.2%, whilst business accounted for 13.7%, study at 10.3%, and other reasons at 0.7%, the Service concludes.
