Nicosia: ?otal government employment in July 2025 reached 53,447 persons, marking an increase of 408 individuals (0.8%) compared to June 2024, the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat) data published on Monday show.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the official data reveal a decline in employment within the Civil Service and Security Forces by 0.5% and 1.3%, respectively. In contrast, employment in the Educational Service experienced a rise of 4.6%.
Compared to July 2024, there was a notable increase in the number of employees with contracts of definite duration, which went up by 9.8%. The highest percentage increase for this category was observed in the Educational Service, at 14.3%, CyStat reported.
Conversely, the data indicate a decrease in the number of employees with contracts of indefinite duration, which fell by 6.1%. The largest percentage decrease in this category was also noted in the Educational Service, at 20.5%.
For the period spanning January to July 2025, the average total government employment increased by 0.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2024.
