Strong Winds and Rough Seas Expected in Cyprus Coastal Areas

Nicosia: Low pressure and a cold air mass are set to impact Cyprus' coastal regions, with strong westerly to northwesterly winds anticipated to affect the western, northern, and southern coastal areas. The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for these conditions, predicting winds of force 6 and occasionally reaching 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale. According to Cyprus News Agency, the weather will be predominantly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms mostly around the western and northern coasts. However, these weather phenomena are expected to diminish by the evening. The state of the sea is forecast to be rough, with the northern coasts experiencing very rough conditions, while the southern coasts are expected to be moderate to rough. Visibility is expected to remain good, though it may become moderate to poor during showers. The sea surface temperature is currently recorded at 19°C. Meteorological warnings are in place from midnight until noon on January 13, 2026, advising caution for those in affected areas.
