Nicosia: Small states have an even greater responsibility to work together, President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, stressed Monday, welcoming at the Presidential Palace the Speakers of the Parliaments of small states of Europe who are participating in their 18th Conference taking place in Cyprus. The Speakers were accompanied by President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Christodoulides said that he looked forward to the discussions they would have, especially in light of the current international conditions. “We have a greater responsibility as small states to work together not only to face the challenges but also to coordinate our actions, so that our voices are heard,” the President stressed.
He added that their meeting takes place shortly before the visit of the President of the European Council Antonio Costa to Cyprus, which, as he said, is a very significant one. Concluding, he also said that the initiative to hold a Conference of Speakers of Parliaments that began in 2006 is very important.
