Slight Decrease in Deposit Rates, Small Rise in Loan Rates in October

Nicosia: The average interest rates for household deposits in Cyprus experienced a slight decrease in October 2025, while the average interest rate for housing loans and loans to businesses saw a small increase. This information was revealed in data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) concerning deposit and loan interest rates for each credit institution.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the CBC data indicated that the average interest rate for eurozone residents purchasing a house in euros increased to 3.08% in October 2025, up from 3.03% in September 2025. This figure remains below the eurozone average of 3.33%. The highest mortgage interest rate recorded was from the Housing Finance Corporation at 3.37%, followed by the Bank of Cyprus, Ancoria, and Eurobank Cyprus.

In terms of loans to businesses, the average interest rate for new loans up to one million pounds decreased slightly to 4.25% in October 2025, down from 4.20% the previous month. Banque SBA had the highest interest rate at 6.61%, while Eurobank offered the lowest at 3.87%.

The average interest rate on term deposits for households fell to 1.07% in October 2025, compared to 1.10% in September, with the eurozone average standing at 1.77%. The Arab Jordan Investment Bank offered the highest rate of 2.00%, while Societe Generale had the lowest at 0.80%.

Corporate deposits also saw a reduction in interest rates, with the average rate dropping to 1.23% in October 2025 from 1.24% in September. The Cyprus Development Bank recorded the highest interest rate at 1.72%, and the Housing Finance Corporation had the lowest at 0.36%.
