Kato paphos: The Shireen boat, part of the Gaza Sumud Flotilla, departed from the Kato Paphos harbour at around 9:30 local time on Sunday morning, as reported by a Paphos Ports Authority official. Meanwhile, another flotilla vessel remains docked at the Ayia Napa marina due to engine problems.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the delay in the Shireen’s departure, which was part of the international flotilla headed for Gaza, was attributed to a change in crew. Repairs were conducted on the vessel by an engineer who was on board, while some crew members expressed their desire to leave Cyprus by air, necessitating the crew change.
After being refueled and supplied with water, the Shireen set sail for Italy from the Kato Paphos harbour. In contrast, the Summertime Jong, another vessel from the flotilla, has been docked at the Ayia Napa marina since Friday afternoon due to engine issues.
CNA reported that the Ayia Napa Marina Management stated that 11 people were on board the Summertime Jong upon its arrival, with four having already departed, while the remaining crew members continue to stay on board. Engineers are scheduled to conduct repairs on Monday.
