Seasonal Low Pressure Impacts Sea Conditions Around Cyprus

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus for the period from 0600 on July 26, 2026, to 0600 on July 27, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and indicates that seasonal low pressure is currently influencing the region. The weather is expected to be mainly fine, although there will be periods of increased cloudiness. According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1005 hPa. Visibility in the area is expected to remain good, and the sea surface temperature is at 28°C, with no warnings issued for the forecast period. For the West Coast, the morning will see variable winds at a Beaufort scale of 3, with slight sea conditions. In the afternoon, winds will shift to the west to northwest at a Beaufort scale of 4, sometimes reaching 4 to 5 locally, resulting in slight to moderate sea conditions. By night, the northwest winds will maintain a Beaufort scale of 4, continuing the slight to moderate sea state. The South Coast will experience variable winds at a Beaufort scale of 3 in the morning, with a slight sea state. In the afternoon, southwest winds will pick up to a Beaufort scale of 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 locally, maintaining a slight sea condition. At night, the winds will change to northwest at a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4, leading to smooth to slight sea conditions. For the East Coast, the morning will have variable winds at a Beaufort scale of 3 with a slight sea state. Afternoon winds will shift south to southwest at a Beaufort scale of 4, with occasional local increases to 4 to 5, maintaining a slight sea. By night, winds will shift west to northwest at a Beaufort scale of 3, resulting in smooth to slight sea conditions. Lastly, the North Coast will see variable winds at a Beaufort scale of 3 with slight seas in the morning. In the afternoon, northwest winds will increase to a Beaufort scale of 4, sometimes reaching 4 to 5 locally, maintaining a sl ight sea condition. At night, the northwest winds will maintain a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4, resulting in a slight sea state.
