Seasonal Low Pressure Brings Mist and Fog to Cyprus Sea Areas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, indicating that seasonal low pressure is currently influencing the region. The forecast, which covers the period from 1800 on July 9, 2026, to 1800 on July 10, 2026, notes that while the weather will generally be fine, there is an increased presence of low cloud tonight and early in the morning. This will lead to a risk of local mist and isolated fog patches.

According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility is expected to be generally good, but it may reduce to moderate or poor in mist and become very poor in areas experiencing fog. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 27°C, and no warnings have been issued for the period.

The forecast details the wind directions and state of the sea for various coastal areas. On the West Coast, winds will shift from northwest to northeast, starting at 3 to 4 and eventually reaching 4 to 5 in the afternoon, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight. The South Coast will experience similar wind patterns, with the afternoon seeing winds of 4 to 5, resulting in a slight sea.

For the East Coast, the night will begin with southwest to northwest winds at 3, progressing to 4 to 5 offshore by afternoon, keeping the sea state from smooth to slight. The North Coast will see winds shifting from southeast to southwest, reaching 4 to 5 by afternoon, maintaining a slight sea state throughout the period.
