Romanian Senate Delegation Engages in Key Meetings in Nicosia

Nicosia: The Chairman and members of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Senate have commenced their official visit to Cyprus, responding to an invitation from the House of Representatives in Nicosia. The visit, which started on Monday, marks a significant engagement between the Romanian and Cypriot parliamentary bodies.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Titus Corlatean, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Romania, along with committee members Simona Spataru and Sorin Lavric, arrived in Nicosia on Sunday. On Monday, their itinerary includes a meeting with Harris Georgiades, Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, as well as discussions with other committee members at the House. The delegation is also scheduled to meet with Marios Panayides, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry.

The Romanian delegation’s agenda further includes a meeting with Ambassador Theodora Constantinidou, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They are expected to attend an official lunch hosted by Harris Georgiades, furthering diplomatic and parliamentary relations.

In the latter part of the day, the delegation will engage with Colin Stewart, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus, and Head of the UN peace-keeping force on the island (UNFICYP), at the UNFICYP headquarters. Additionally, they will meet with Romanian members of UNPOL at the same location.

Their visit will also encompass interactions with the Romanian diaspora in Cyprus, culminating in a dinner hosted by Christina Christodoulou-Todea, President of the Romanian Society in Cyprus.
