Retail Trade Sees Significant Uptick in October with 7.6% Increase in Value

Nicosia: The Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade witnessed a 7.6% increase in October 2025 compared to the same month in the previous year, as reported by the Statistical Service. Alongside this rise in value, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade also experienced a 10.1% increase during the same period.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the most notable growth in the retail trade sector was observed in specific categories. Clothing and footwear registered a 15.3% rise in value and a 24.4% increase in volume. Similarly, food, beverages, and tobacco in specialized stores saw a growth of 12.9% in value and 15.3% in volume. Other household equipment, including construction materials, carpets, furniture, electrical appliances, and lighting, reported an increase of 11% in value and 12.8% in volume.

However, the retail sector did witness a downturn in certain areas. Retail sales not conducted in stores saw a reduction of 10.7% in value and 7.5% in volume.

From January to October 2025, the turnover value index of retail trade rose by 6.4%, while the turnover volume index increased by 7.8%.
