The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provided technical supervision.
The Church of Agios Georgios, situated in the Mezere area, was built in the mid-19th century on the site of an earlier monastery. It is considered an integral part of Karavas' historical and cultural heritage. The restoration of this church also saw a joint effort from Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot professionals, with financial support from the EU and the local community, and technical oversight by the UNDP.
