Dubai: Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou is set to participate in the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026, scheduled to take place in Dubai from February 3 to 5. This was announced by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Damianou's involvement in the Summit comes following an official invitation. The World Governments Summit is a prestigious international organization that convenes leaders and officials from various governments, along with executives from international organizations and businesses. The main theme for the 2026 Summit is 'Shaping Future Governments', with a focus on technology, artificial intelligence, education, sustainability, and economic resilience.
The announcement further mentions that the Deputy Minister will engage in a roundtable discussion titled 'GovTech for the Benefit of People and Business'. This discussion will explore the role of technology in modernizing public administration and enhancing services for citizens and businesses, as well as the significance of expanding international cooperation in this domain.
During his stay in Dubai, Damianou will also hold a bilateral meeting with his German counterpart, Dr. Karsten Wildberger, Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation. Additionally, he will engage with UAE government officials and representatives from the business world.
