Registered Unemployed in Cyprus Decrease by 3.9% in December

Nicosia: The number of registered unemployed in Cyprus fell by 3.9% on an annual basis in December, as reported by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat) on Wednesday. The data highlights a positive trend in the country's employment landscape.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the number of unemployed individuals registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of December 2025 stood at 11,901. The seasonally adjusted data, which better reflects the unemployment trend, showed a decrease to 9,916 registered unemployed persons in December 2025, compared to 10,013 the previous month.

In comparison with December 2024, there was a reduction of 481 individuals, or 3.9%. This decline is primarily attributed to improvements in sectors such as construction, accommodation and food services, trade, manufacturing, and a reduction in the number of newcomers to the labor market, as indicated by the figures.
