Record Number of 117 Artworks at Larnaca Biennale 2025

Larnaca: A record-breaking number of 117 artworks from individual artists and artist groups from 43 different countries, out of 526 applications, have been selected to participate in Larnaca Biennale 2025. This will be the largest number in the event’s history so far, according to the organisers.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the curator, Sana L³pez Abell¡n, along with the five-member Judges Committee carefully reviewed submissions to select artists whose proposals best aligned with this edition’s theme “Along Lines and Traces.”

With the artists now selected, a comprehensive exhibition program and parallel events agenda is being curated, to be shared in the coming months. The Biennale will launch on October 15, featuring works in a variety of media from immersive installations and audio works to hand-sculpted clay figures and contemporary silk prints.

Larnaca Biennale is the only Arts Biennale in Cyprus and is organized in the city and province of Larnaca every two years by the registered non-profit Cultural Association ‘Artion’. The event, which first started in 2018, lasts a month and a half and aims to promote and highlight the arts and culture both locally and internationally.

As the largest international artistic organisation in Cyprus, it attracts a significant number of visitors (over 60,000) with the participation of creators and collaborators from Cyprus and abroad. The Biennale is organised by ARTION Cultural Association of Larnaca. The Deputy Ministry of Culture CY/ Department of Contemporary Culture is the main sponsor.
