Rainy Weather Expected in Cyprus Until Thursday Due to Storm ‘Byron’

Nicosia: Weather in Cyprus will remain rainy until Thursday as the storm ‘Byron’ approaches the western areas of the island. The Meteorology Department is not expecting extreme phenomena like those experienced in Greece recently, according to Officer of the Department of Meteorology Panagiotis Georgiou.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Georgiou stated that the storm’s eye is located west of the Cyprus coastline and is gradually moving east, bringing rainfall until Thursday. The rainy weather is anticipated to subside by Friday.

The forecast predicts isolated thunderstorms and rain until the end of the week, with the Meteorology Department likely issuing weather warnings soon. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to start at coastal areas and then progress to the inland and mountainous regions.

On Sunday, the rainy weather will persist until late afternoon. After a brief pause in the evening, rain is expected to resume on Monday morning. Regarding wind conditions, Georgiou mentioned that the strongest winds are forecasted to be at 5-6 degrees on the Beaufort scale in coastal regions and around 4-5 in inland and mountainous areas. Extreme winds of 7-8 degrees are not anticipated, although winds may strengthen and vary during thunderstorms.
