Nicosia: Public donations for the victims of the Limassol wildfire have reached approximately 1.2 million euro, according to Andreas Antoniades, the Accountant General of the Republic of Cyprus. He informed the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that these donations were collected by the 30th of July in a bank account specifically opened by the government at the Central Bank of Cyprus.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Antoniades highlighted that some individual donations exceeded 100,000 euro. He emphasized that the primary goal is not merely raising a large sum, but rather addressing the public’s desire to contribute financially to a meaningful cause. The funds are intended to directly aid the wildfire victims and will not be used for state projects.
Antoniades also mentioned that the Council of Ministers will make the final decision on how the donations will be allocated, ensuring that the funds are used in a manner closely related to the tragedy and the needs of the fire victims.
