Nicosia: Professor Despo Fatta-Kassinos of the University of Cyprus is set to receive an Honorary Doctorate from the Hellenic Open University (HOU). The Senate of HOU unanimously approved this honor in its January 2026 session.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the decision highlights Professor Fatta-Kassinos's significant role in linking science with society and the environment. Her contributions to sustainable water management, public health, and resilience to health crises were notably recognized by both the School Assembly and the Senate.
The Senate also emphasized that Professor Fatta-Kassinos's expertise and international recognition are expected to enhance the academic development and international profile of the School of Science and Technology at HOU. The honorary degree will be awarded during the Spring Days celebrations in April 2026.
