Nicosia: The price index of the means of agricultural production in agriculture reached 121.37 in the first quarter of 2026, representing a decrease of 2.62% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, as reported by the Statistical Service.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the data published on Wednesday highlights a significant annual drop in the prices of seeds and planting stock, which fell by 19.4%, and electricity, which decreased by 10.95%. On the other hand, the period witnessed notable price increases in transport equipment and tractors, which saw a rise of 16.5%, and in materials, which increased by 8.23%.
In the same timeframe, the price index of agricultural products reached 134.24, reflecting a 5.4% increase from the corresponding quarter of 2025. Crop production prices surged to 156.20, while livestock production prices climbed to 124.38, marking annual increases of 7.09% and 4.55%, respectively. Within crop production, the most substantial price hikes were noted in tomatoes, with a 90% increase, and apples, which rose by 29.5%. Conversely, seedlings experienced a price drop of 19.4%. In livestock production, beef prices saw a significant increase of 59%, while pork prices decreased by 15.4%.
