Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is travelling to NYC Saturday where he will address the Plenary of the 79th United Nations General Assembly and meet with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
During his presence in New York, the President will, among others, have meetings with leaders of states and governments and host a lunch for the Permanent Representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. He is also set to meet a delegation of Chevron energy corporation.
According to a press release issued by the Presidency, on Sunday President Christodoulides will have a meeting with the Presidents of the Cypriot Organizations of America and will attend an event organized by the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations.
On Monday President Christodoulides will address the UN Future Summit and hold meetingw with the Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic and on with King Abdullah II of Jordan.
The meeting with UNSG is set for 3.40 pm Monday.
On 24 September, the President will atte
nd a reception hosted by the UN Secretary-General for the Heads of State attending the General Assembly and the opening of the 79th UN General Assembly.
Cyprus President will hold separate meetings with the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hammad Al-Sabah and the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
He will address the UNSG September 25 and then the Security Council on promoting peace and respect for the UN Charter.
The President will then attend a lunch with a delegation of the Hellenic American Leadership Council an meet with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.
Later in the afternoon, the President and his spouse will attend a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden and his spouse Jill, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
On 26 September, President Christodoulides will meet with the High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset.
He is also se to meet wit
h a delegation of the American Jewish Committee and attend a lunch with businessmen, members of the American Express Club.
In the afternoon, he will have a meeting with a Chevron delegation, to be followed by a meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang.
On 27 September in the morning, President Christodoulides will have a meeting with the President of the Republic of Gambia, Adama Barrow and host a lunch with the Permanent Representatives of the five permanent members of the Security Council.
In the evening, President Christodoulides will attend and address the annual dinner hosted in his honour by the Federation of Cypriot American Organizations.
The President of the Republic and his delegation return home on 29 September.
