Nicosia: Today more than ever, businesses are called upon to strengthen their role in green transition, while remaining competitive adopting responsible and sustainable practices that contribute to addressing the multi-level challenges, President Nikos Christodoulides said on Monday, at an event organised by Photos Photiadis Group to present its green programme ‘Choice’.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides stated that Photiadis Group continues to be a pioneer with the green programme ‘Choice’, which comes to address a major challenge, namely the need to protect the environment in a structured, practical, and specific manner.
He highlighted that industry, a key pillar of economic development, is a sector with significant energy consumption. However, through the implementation of energy efficiency improvement technologies, energy management systems, and the use of green forms of energy in industrial facilities, substantial reductions in consumption and environmental footprint can be ach
ieved. This not only fulfills an obligation to future generations but also strengthens industry competitiveness in the long term.
In his address, the President also mentioned that the Government is promoting investments in energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, smart systems, and innovative technologies. These initiatives aim to increase competitiveness and reduce energy costs.
He concluded by noting that the National Energy and Climate Plan, submitted to the EU last December, outlines specific measures to be adopted by 2030 to reduce final energy consumption in industry by 15%.
