President Requests US Expertise to Evaluate Limassol Wildfires Management

Nicosia: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, announced that he has sought assistance from the U.S. Government to investigate and assess the handling of the recent wildfires in Limassol. He has also made public the reports he commissioned following the fire in the mountainous region at the end of July.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the President stated in a written communication that he appealed to the U.S. Government for the involvement of American authorities in evaluating the management of the recent fires. The American Government has responded positively and will be sending an initial team of ten experts with experience in investigating similar disasters both in the USA and globally.

Upon completing their mission, the experts will provide a comprehensive report to President Christodoulides. Additionally, the President has released reports from the Police, Fire Department, Civil Defence, and Forestry Department detailing their actions during the wildfires. He emphasized that making these reports public fulfills his promise of transparency and accountability to the people of Cyprus.
