Nicosia: President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, had a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon with the new Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman. This dialogue was initiated by President Christodoulides, following the announcement of the voting results in the occupied territories.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a post on ‘X’ by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis revealed that during the conversation, President Christodoulides congratulated Erhurman and expressed his willingness to arrange a joint meeting at the earliest opportunity.
The Government Spokesperson further noted that President Christodoulides reaffirmed his commitment to contribute constructively to the United Nations Secretary General’s efforts to resume negotiations. These negotiations are intended to proceed based on the agreed framework, as outlined by relevant Security Council resolutions and the principles of the European Union.
Letymbiotis concluded by stating that the Turkish Cypriot leader agreed to co
ntact President Christodoulides soon to schedule a meeting.
